HELP IDENTIFYING THIE ENGINE!!!350 RO 305?????

HELP IDENTIFYING THIE ENGINE!!!350 RO 305?????

So I went to see a iroc z28. The owner tells me that its a 350 but it looked like a 305 to me. I opned the air filter and it was carbrated. Its a 1986 camaro So Im just trying to figure out if its a 350 or 305?Please help..


and also the timing chain is broken on it but if its a 350 I wanna know approx. how much it would take to fix it. he is asking $1000 for it.

between the head and the firewall on the drivers side there is a small spot were the displacement is cast into the block newer blocks have either 5.0 or 5.7 on them older ones might say 305 or 350 I'm not sure but there all back there you might need a flashlight even in the day time to see it and some thing to clean that area as it's a good place for dirt oil and grease to collect be careful some poeple like to lie and say it's something it ain't because the outside of either block is virtually identical so unless you want a 305 I would check it good luck and happy hunting

yes but the engine may have been swapped at some point the way I described will leave you no doubt and just my opinion any vehicle that's not running is not worth 1,000 unless it's super collectable if you found a broken timing chain the engine is either worn out or there might be other damage to it be careful lemons make you pucker in more ways than one

yeah there is some truth to what you say....but for now Im just rying to figure out what engine it is.
