Re: Dyno tuning???

a dyno tune is for numbers only. a street tune is what you will need for it to be right. ebl flash is going to be your best bet but you will have to learn to tune it yourself or find someone that knows how to use it to tune it for you. or you will have to learn to tune it yourself.

Re: Dyno tuning???

Check with the folks on the So. Cal. regional board here on TGO. Many of them do their own tuning and/or know the folks that do the tuning. Most of them have also modified the engines in their cars.

Re: Dyno tuning???

I've done all the mods on the car myself. I just haven't thought to get into the tuning scene. How difficult is EBL tuning for a beginner with not too much free time? I'm pretty knowledgable on mechanics but not much of a computer geek. What do you guys suggest? Do I keep searching for a Tbi tuner or jump into the EBL pool head first?

This may be an issue doing any tuning of it yourself. There is a lot of reading that needs to be done just to understand what does what, and what needs to be changed.

The amount of time that needs to be invested will depend upon how quickly you pick stuff up.

Re: Dyno tuning???

We (my son and I) do the tuning here in So Cal www.socaltpi.org
However, finding the chips for TBI is getting very difficult.
The EBL might be your best bet.

Re: Dyno tuning???

I bought the EBL. Rbob has been super. I am still a little intimidated. Any one know the EBL in the Portland area? I haven't installed the motor yet but I thought I'd install the EBL now to get the hang of it. If I can figure it out there's hope for you too. I am not stupid just a little old and pretty set in my ways and hard to teach anything. I was just going to go the chip rout but through asking a ton of questions everyone talked me into the EBL. I too don't see how a guy can mail order a chip and get it rite.

Read my thread "which TBI" there is a ton of information in it. The guys here are full of helpful information.

Re: Dyno tuning???

modded Tbi camaro
The "modded" may necessitate a DIY approach. Much has to do with how much $$$ you have invested and whether you will be tuning ten years from now on another car or buy a newer sports car w/o modded. the cost of the EBL may be a small % of overall cost. It was that way in my case as the receipts mounted up and some I needed a pro to help. If you only have $1000 in car you may want to go low buck and burn erase chips the old fashioned way. I started that old school tune way and it was educational but left a lot on the table.
