Component identification

I have a 1987 Chevrolet pickup with a TBI fuel injection system on it. I was installing a new engine and while mounting the ESC bracket to the engine I broke the component that was mounted to the back of the bracket. It has a wire plug in and a vaccum line that hooks to it. I have search the web for component identification but haven't found anything on this particular one. The ESC bracket mounts to the intake on the passenger side and the ESC is on the throttlebody side of the bracket. The component is on the valve cover side of the same bracket. Any help would be appreciated.

Must be the EGR solenoid then. Do I need this? I'm not running a EGR and I have a custom chip in the ECM.

Watch for pinging/detonation. EGR routine involves an increase in SA during event. Increased timing is necessary due to combustion being slowed. With no EGR hardware timing increase still occurs. Ideally you would turn off EGR in your prom.

If it has one vacuum line going to it it's going to be the map sensor if it has two vacuum lines it's going to be the egr valve solenoid/modulator. Go to autozone's website and search for both components for your year truck, they show pictures of what they look like.

Unless you turn off the egr valve in the ecm running without it is a bad idea. Your truck will run like crap, when the computer turns on the egr valve it adds spark advance and it'll screw with the fueling to.

Its the EGR solenoid. The truck was originally a TBI small block. I converted it to a TBI big block with a custom chip. I ran the truck for a couple years and then decided to swap engines to another BBC I had. While installing the map sensor bracket I broke the EGR solenoid. At the time I didn't know what this was. The engine does not run EGR. THanks for the help.
