305 turbo

hey guys i am sure this has been talked about b4 but i was wondering.
with a good bottom end.(rebuild not long ago )
with a ebay turbo kit or maybe a turbo off a J/Y 6.2/6.5 diesel
how much bost could my motor take and how much power could it make??
i know i would probley need yo upgrade the tbi system but. dont know much about it.

I'm not a expert but when I was looking into it before most were telling me around 7~8psi max.

+1 Also I believe the diesel won't work very well as the spool on it it quite different and designed to operate in a completely different rpm range.

My old T/A has a Procharged 305, stock crank but nice rods and pistons. At 10psi it made 415rwhp on a bad tune. I was told the stock crank was the limiting factor in turning up the boost as they crack around 500rwhp.

I currently run 15-psi with the stock bottom end, mind you this is with worked heads, cam and intake so 15-psi is a hell of a lot more air than if it were a stock setup, and it will handle a lot more than that the way it is. What destroys engines with turbo's is excessive detonation, so keep your IAT's and EGT's in check and you will be fine. As said, 500-RWHP is usually when a cast rolling assembly will start to feel and succumb to the pounding, but your not going to make that much with a TBI system unless you make a lot of modifications...

his thread(s) he knows a thing or two about turbo 305s, i'd hate to see what he'd do to my 305 lol

they work just fine in most cases they work on an engine 2x the size with half the rpm range so they move the same air as a engine thats half its size would at redline
