modified TBI body/port fuel inj intake combo

Has anyone here ever removed the injectors from a 305/350 or TBI to use it as a throttle body while using it on an Holley open plenum intake with cast-in injector bosses? (I forget the part no.)

Would this be an economical way to get more airflow if one could find a practical way to drive 8 fuel injectors?
Say, converting from an L03 to a mild 400 sbc and T5?

Thanks, maybe this should be in the alternative EFI forum.

Yeah, edelbrock has a kit to convert your tbi system to efi. I'd don't know if anyone ever put it on a f body, it was marketed for trucks.

It has been done. I believe you need an upgrade on ECU.

check this out dynamicefi.com (see port mod)

You should just get an aftermarket TBI intake , and get a nice custom chip made for your set up.

Re: modified TBI body/port fuel inj intake combo

I'm doing this same thing for my LT based 383. I'm using the Hurricane manifold and a modified 454 tbi unit. I'll take pics of it tonight.

You're using a 454 throttle body stripped of the injectors, and the Hurricane manifold incorporating the added port fuel injectors?

What computer are you using to drive the 8 injectors if so/

thanks

I'm going to be using the EBL Flash with the Port mod to run 8 injectors. Easy money lol

Re: modified TBI body/port fuel inj intake combo

From the calculations I did my engine only needs 683 cfm to turn 6500 rpms so it should be more than adequate for what I'm using it for. Plus I'm doing a "mild" port job to radius the bowls more for better flow so that should give me even more cfm.

If you find you are restricted the Accufab TB on ebay seems to be a decent price.

Does a Port Mod modify a TBI stock L03 computer, and would all that's necessary to do the above be cheaper than a installing an EZ EFI TBI or Atomic TBI EFI?

Yes, Rbob (who is a goddamn genius) can modify your stock computer. Check out www.dynamicefi.com . I think that you could possibly do this conversion far cheaper than the atomix or proflo setup if you play your cards right.
