aeromotive 13301 vrfpr issue
I'm using the Aeromotive 13301 regulator on my TBI ZZ383 and have a question. The vehicle starts and runs (not finished tuning yet) ok but when I shut off the engine, the fuel pressure bleeds down to zero in 3 seconds. If I shut off the return hose at the regulator, the pressure holds. seems like the ball and seat has a leak but after inspection it looks ok. Is this normal?
Re: aeromotive 13301 vrfpr issue
Even stock tbi units bleed down like that, they run at such a low pressure, they are quickly primed when you start them.
I think its a safe way of doing it, if one of the injectors seeps while the engine is off it, could fill the whole intake w/ gas.

Re: aeromotive 13301 vrfpr issue
I believe this is how the 13301 "works". Mine does the exact same thing. I remember Fast355 talking about brazing up a port on the original TBI regulator, so that it would hold the pressure rather than bleed it off. The advantage to this was quicker starts, as you don't have to wait for the pump to build pressure it is (mostly) already there. I was thinking about sourcing a check valve and putting it inline with the return line after the 13301 so it would hold the pressure on shutdown.
Re: aeromotive 13301 vrfpr issue
my 13301 bleeds down pretty quicky. When I change my FP my wife does a key on and I need to witness new FP quicky as it begins a bleed down in about 2 sec. I have high pressure spring at 21 lbs currently and 26 lbs formerly.
