Strange problem that I can't figure with my TBI. SOLVED!
Strange problem that I can't figure with my TBI. SOLVED!
Hi...
I thought i would come here because I know there is a wealth of TBI knowledge over here, and you all have been extremely helpful when we had our IROC.
The victim in this case is our 95 Tahoe. It has a weird issue that I have never had happen before to me. For whatever reason, the truck runs great when cold, and falls flat on its face when hot and anything over 1/4 throttle...seems more pronounced in a bend...
Heres what has been done.
fuel filter and lines, edelbrock performer tbi manifold, new distributor, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, temp sensor, msd coil, airtex fuel pump (also have now jumpy fuel gauge)
It also has a modded TBI unit on it that I am starting to suspect may be from a 454 engine. It worked fine on the factory intake, but for some odd reason feels like its binding on the edelbrock at what should be 1/2 throttle...feels real rough to move. However, when you take it off, it opens and closes freely with no issues whatsoever.
I am at my wits end, and am getting tired of tossing parts at it. I am going today to grab another TBI unit that I know comes off a 350. that way I am sure.
Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
Shawn

Well, today I found out why the Tahoe has run like a wet turd and why it has been a monumental gas HOG...I had purchased a modded TBI unit when I first got the truck, and installed it. the pigging began...Then i picked up a edelbrock manifold cheap and put that all together, and the tbi unit never felt right on there. Seemed to bind up.. Tbi unit was for a 454...Problem solved...Replaced it today with a 350 one...not yet modded...
Runs like brand new...stumble and miss now gone, and got her old power back!
