Hello, I need some help. I have a Camaro RS with 65,000 miles. Car runs fine, no problems but at idle its running at 15RPM's. Took it to the shop today to have the gas tank R/R. I noticed blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The only thing I have done already to this car is a tune-up. Changed oil, oil filter and spark plugs. Flushed radiator and added new coolant. Before I bought it, the car sat for about 10 yrs. Does anyone have any ideas of what it can be or causing both problems? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

 

A bad coolant temp sensor, high fuel pressure, retarded ign. timing, & bad vacuum hose to map sensor.
Any codes?

 

Thanks ex-x-fire, noo there is no check engine light on. Where would i start though with all that you mentioned?

 

Use the search feature to check engine coolant temp sensor, fuel pressure, & ign. timing testing procedures.
Take off the air cleaner & look for bad vacuum hoses.

 

Blue smoke indicates oil is burning during combustion. You said that the car sat for sat for 10 year. The chances are the valves seals have hardened and no longer prevent oil from leaking down the valve stems. This is a very common problem in high mileage engines - worn valve guides and valve stem seals. If it smokes during deceleration that indicates that intake valve stems -seals are worn and oil sucked into combustion chamber. Check you plugs for carbon build up.
