Re: help no spark

Have you had the module and coil tested? Not unheard of any more for new parts to fail.

Re: help no spark

I switch the module with another one and I'm starting to think that the MSD coil I bought is bad

Good possibility. Since the injectors fire during cranking, that means that the distributor is sending reference pulses (DRPs) to the ECM. These DRPs originate from the pickup coil and are buffered by the ICM. The ICM then sends the DRPs on to the ECM.

The ICM should also be charging the coil and firing a spark plug on each DRP.

Re: help no spark

MSD coils are mostly made in China; the OEM coils are all you need and much less expensive.

Might want to look at the second section of this article:

Unlikely. Unplug the 4-wire connector from the distributor. This takes the ECM completely out of the equation. Note that the injectors won't fire, which is good as they won't flood the engine.

But the spark plugs should still fire. So can continue to troubleshoot. Note that the knock system has nothing to do with the lack of spark.

Re: help no spark

That did not do anything, the ECM sends the signal to open and close IcM to create a ground to create spark. I probed out the harness and have continuity. Last possible thing is a circuit in ECM
is burnt. Any last ideas. Because thenly thing that is old is that

Not until the engine is above 400 RPM does the ECM control timing. Until then the distributor fires the spark plugs at the base setting. Same as having the EST/BYPASS connector open.

The two wire pigtail between the ICM & coil may be bad.
