Re: Crossfire TBI boring
No CLOSED OUT OF BUSINESS....
And I just got a Renegade that has issues... they don't make it... but then again they did design it... I feel I got a second rate one... NOT BASHING it but it shure looks like someone could have done better... the DISTRO hole is not round? I got it thru Ecklers and they got it thru the EDDIE MOTORSPORTS that now makes them... they will fix but heck if you machine stuff don't one check after a few runs to see if tooling is working and cutting right? And or takes a few seconds to also make some jigs to test the holes and or measure them out faster then by a mic or guage?
To me thats CNC 101??? Heck I worked at Mack for years and that was part of the process make the CNC part then make some standards to check as you go... if we had to CNC make parts....?
I am sorry to see them go... I think George Bush had something to do with it...? Ah I joke...
They may be bought out but that is up in the air.. or they may return lets hope they do they had some great ideas... like the package or kits would have been nice.. but heck things change and lets face it get a crate motor and a Holly or other self adjusting TBI and boom you gots power if thats what you want..
Crossfire Injection Forum, 3rd Gen, Moates and great folks like Bob R's EBL are why we do what we do, fun rewarding and results on a factory looking setup...
Anyhow its getting harder to find TBI and Crossfire things.... Its all good if you know what your doing you can make a 350 400 even 550 horse TBI all day lone with not that much cash... it can be done I have one and this is my second 82 vette... just the factory block and heads are crap... bad studs it s cheapy car block... bad casting tons of sand still in the block very poor year 82 towards the end... my first car numbers matching block is better that the later one... first one is pusing 445hp this block I would be scared to push it if you seen it poor cast lines and seems near the cam and lifter holes... almost looks like you could brake the block in half...
I have my feelers out but its hard I may have to talk to a machine shop and see if they can to it... was told they need to go small cuts to retain the ports and holes. a large cut will mess them up... was told it just takes a while... I probably could do if I had access to the equiptment...

Did not know that DCS is shutting down and out of business!!!
I also purchased one of their Renegade intakes - had to exchange it due to lousy machining. Long story - it still sits on the shelf waiting to find home in suitable engine bay.
Locally I take may TB's to http://www.rvmorsemachine.com/ - Roy is one man operation and he does excellent job rebuilding TB's.

thank you master of RF... ROy seems to be the man... sending him a set of CF TBI's he does all types..
I checked my new RENEGADE and althogh some poor CNC on the DISTRO hole and the thermostat hole is a little sloppy it is workable and won't effect performance at all... the stocker has as much play on the distro hole its just seeing it a little out of round mad me worry... gonna polish the runners althoght there has been debate on this... as TBI is a wet wall type of intake setup and the roughness as some have said can actually aid in atomization to a point...
