Bored/modded SBC TBI vs 454 TBI?

Hey all,

Just curious for more knowledge from those of you who have done high-performance TBI builds. What's the limit of how much a stock SBC TBI can be bored out to/how much HP it can support w/the right air/fueling and tuning mods? I have read that a 454 TBI has 2" bores, and flows about 670 cfm. Can it be used w/the same sensors/existing wiring harness? or will a custom harness/different sensors be needed? Planning to go the EBL Flash route for ECM/tuning.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Bored/modded SBC TBI vs 454 TBI?

It appears that 46 mm is the furthest a SBC TBI 220 unit can be bored. I base this on what dctrumpet is selling. Can go bigger if willing to sleeve the unit, have one at 2-1/16" bores (52 mm) doing this.

As for sensors, the connectors vary among the years. The IAC can be the large square-4 connector, or the small inline connector. Same for the TPS, either the larger inline connector or the small round connector.

The other thing is the linkage, not all of the BBC TBI units have the TV cable mount.

Had a feeling I'd come across more useful TBI knowledge from ya!

Are there any potential complications to watch out for with sleeving an SBC TBI unit vs just using a BBC unit? And also, are there any complications that could arise from using a larger bore unit than required for a particular build (Say, you only needed 46mm, but ended up using 50mm bores)? Would it make tuning more difficult?

Thanks again!
