Re: persistent 305tbi issue, please help!

My '89 TBI with 70K miles got so bad, I had to slip it in neutral when I approached red lights before stopping, else it would die. And it happened quickly; week before, the car ran fine, 5 days later it was almost impossible to drive. I did all the stupid sensors, cap, plugs, etc... no change. Finally threw in the towel and took it to a mechanic. Issue was the distributor. Good luck finding your gremlin.

Ever check that fuel pressure? Another thing you can do is observe your fuel injectors and ensure your getting an even conical spray pattern from both. If not, your may want to replace the injectors filters/0-rings and fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. Any leaking fuel around the throttle body or strong smell of gas?

Thank you for your reply, how do I test the fuel pressure on my motor?

My entire ignition system has been updated and replaced recently. All parts on my ignition test 100% good.

The correct way is to purchase an adapter, install in-line with the feedline and attach a fuel pressure gauge to it while cranking and running. Next would be to be to observe fuel injectors to see whether they are spraying correcting or just dribbling/or pouring fuel into the throttle body while running.

I'm having the exact same issue. Only thing that hasn't been replaced yet is the EGR and solenoid. 92firebirdguy, have you fixed it yet? Just curious what the cause is for you? I was idling high, almost like the Throttle was sticking. I pulled the throttle body, overhauled it with new gaskets and the works and now it's doing this when I stop, just stalls? It's fine when cold, but once it warms up, poof. I have a new IAC and TPS is set correctly, all vacuum lines are brand new, my ignition system is all new (wires, plugs, cap, rotor). I also put on a new fuel filter. I'm just stumped. Still keep pulling a code 33....
