Get a TPI exhaust and a tune up.

Well I assume you want to keep it TBI . I would swap out the heads. To 416 or 081 or 059. Then get a aftermarket intake ( cheaper to go with a 4bbl intake and adaptor )
Get better manifolds or headers along with exhaust system.

headers and matching y-pipe. 3.42-3.73 gears. 2200-2800 stall converter. shift kit. The car will feel a lot better and you haven't wasted $ on the 305 all this will go over good to a 350 swap later.

This is the way I would go, with 3" pipe all the way back.
Just the switch from the 2.73 to the 3.42 and Eaton Posi. made a huge difference in waking up my car.
A "Corvette Servo" installation gave me the nice crisp shifts I was looking for without installing a complete shift kit and doing it myself only cost me $25.00.
Strongly recommended upgrade to the 700r transmission.

Here's how its done. = http://sethirdgen.org/servo.htm

Here's where I bought mine. = https://www.700r4l60e.com/store/prod...&cat=84&page=1

Re: how to boost power in 305 tbi

I would do full exhaust, intake manifold, 46mm TBI with adjustable regulator, dual snorkel air cleaner, S10 converter, Transgo Shift Kit, Vette Servo, 4th gen dual fans, ad 3.73 gears. Once that is done get an EBL learn to tune. Then swap the cam. Notice heads are not on this list. No real reason to swap them out until you get close to the 300 hp mark.

I like using a nice Edelbrock or Holley carb intake with an adapter plate. Both of them make intakes with the 87-95 bolt pattern and EGR provisions if needed.

Re: how to boost power in 305 tbi

Not sure how youll be able to put a new converter, shift kit and servo in your 5 speed trans....

Id start with free mods, then full exhaust, gears .... then see what you want to do from there
