Quick, Stupid Question
My son just picked up an '89 F'bird, 305. No fuel to TBI.
No sound from fuel pump and no "click" from the relay.
Am I correct to assume the problem is in the relay? FP was supposedly already replaced.
Thanks
NM

Definatly check the wires. If no click from relay than it's either a bad relay, blown fuse, no oil pressure (or broken pressure switch), or a cut wire somewhere.

heres how to troubleshoot. fuel pump relay will energize when pressure in system is low, i.e. car not running for a while or on cold start. when key is first turned on ECM will turn on fuel pump for approx. 2-4 seconds to build up pressure. when engine starts fuel pum relay is basically not used at all, fuel pump gets its power to run from switch on oil sender. no oil pressure, engine will shut down. on ALDL connector position G i believe you can put 12 volts and it will feed it directly to the pump. on most models
it is the lone pin at the left as you face the ALDL bottom row. it should be the only pin used on the bottom row. suggest you use a 10-15 amp fuse in line to protect. if pump fails to run, pump or conn to pump or wiring problem is at fault. fuses, links etc. get a VOM and test for 12 volts. my relay failed and my camaro would start after about 15-20 seconds of cranking(oil press built up to point where switch closed at oil sender). good luck
