Plugs and wires

Re: Plugs and wires
Hatefully true fact about spark plug wire sets:
"Universal" wires need to be custom-fit to the vehicle. Many sets include a crimping tool so that every wire can be the "perfect" length after you cut them to your needs.
"Custom-Fit" wires will all be way too long, so that one part number can universally-fit as many vehicles as possible.
I have a preference for the helical-wound "low resistance" plug wires that advertise 30--200 ohms of resistance. They don't work any better than the "carbon-rope" wires that advertise 2000-4000 ohms resistance, but the helical-wound wires may last longer than the carbon-rope wires.
Put a dab of anti-seize on the spark plug threads. Not as critical with iron cylinder heads compared to aluminum, but it'll ease the removal of the plugs 50,000--100,000 miles from now.
Don't buy spark plugs made in China, even if they have a familiar brand name on the box. I used to love Autolite plugs, for example. Now I buy a lot of NGKs.
