350 TBI chip burn questions

Hello I bought a 1989 Camaro for a project and it has the following installed. a 1991 Silverado 5.7 TBI with 7747 ecm . I overhauled the engine and installed an LT1 cam from a Buick Roadmaster and I ported and polished the stock TBI heads and rebuilt them with LT1 springs. I replaced the pushrods and timing chain set with correct parts for the LT1 cam. What is the beat way to burn the chip? what do I need to do it myself? I already have what I need to data log Thanks for the help in advance, Mark

Re: 350 TBI chip burn questions

Read about ve tables , you need to look at your fuel trim to know if your rich or lean.

As far as a programmer goes you need uv erasable chips and a compatible burner like a pocket programmer to burn 2732 proms. Or visit moates .net and get a burn 2 and adapter to convert your ecm to use sst eeproms.

I would buy the Burn2 from Moates and a G2 adapter with an Aries ZIF socket. Then buy some 27SF512 erasable chips. You are going to need some way to datalog it, so maybe a ALDL cable from either Moates or ALDLcable.com. I have the ALDL cable from ALDLcable.com. There are even bluetooth ALDL cables now on Ebay, and I'm really interested in trying one out. I hope you have a laptop. I have an old Dell Inspirion with Windows XP that I do my logging on. Grab yourself Tunerpro RT and WinALDL just in case for datalogging. Tunerpro has datalogging built in but sometimes it's difficult to get it setup right.

The TBI ecm requires that you solder the G2 adapter socket in. So you have to remove the factory PROM socket and remove all the legs, then solder in the new socket. If you are afraid to attempt this yourself, you can send it into Moates and they will solder it for you for $25. One thing you might want to look at is the 93 LT1 Speed Density Fbody BIN. It might help you fill in the blanks with respect to the volumetric efficiency tables. Somewhere between a 305 TBI and 350 LT1 for fueling is what I would think you would want. The TBI heads aren't as good as the LT1 heads, so I'm thinking less timing but more fuel. My friend wants to put an LT1 camshaft into his car and wants me to tune it, so I am going to do basically what you are doing right now. I put an LT1 camshaft in my 87 TPI and that thing ran great.
