EBL Flash PRoblems

Just installed an EBL Flash II in my 82 crossfire, had some problems with IAT and Malfunctions light, since have masked the bits because i have no IAT on the care. Engine light off, but getting some Engine knocks , didn't have them before installing the tuner, car runs better now, just has the knock indicator. Changed the IAT/CTS sensor blend to 100% CTS and still problem. Running the 82 EBL Flash that was sent for it with just the 2 modifications above. My question is can anyone give a hint, I know I have to increase fuel , and decrease timing advance, where in the tables would I find the AFR or fuel percentage to increase.Using Tuner Pro 5 to edit the bins. Thanks

Re: EBL Flash PRoblems

See answer below, but before you start tuning with EBL, make sure your engine is in good operating condition. I tried to tune and was getting mixed results until I replaced ALL of the vacuum hoses under the hood. Any vacuum leaks will mess up the tune. Also watch the sensor outputs ant replace any sensor that is giving data that doesn't make sense. These cars are OLD!

In Tuner Pro, go to the Tables section and open SA - Main Table. This is where you adjust timing. You might try running premium to avoid taking too much SA out.

In EBL WUD, open the Spark tab. Under "Display" on the right side of the screen, click "counts". This will tell you how much knock you are getting at various RPM and loads. Drive around and note the KPa/RPM cells where you are having issues with knock. I usually drive around and before I turn the car off I take a screen shot or pic with my phone to save the data.

Once you know where the knock is occurring, you can go in and edit the SA - Main Table in Tuner Pro. If you are having across the board knock issues, then do a global decrease across the entire table. Save BIN then load into EBL and drive around some more. Keep doing this until knock goes away. Keep track of your adjustments. Once you have taken care of the knock, start tuning the VE Table - Low Speed to get the fueling down. You may be able to go back and adjust the SA back up after fueling is good.

Good luck! You will be amazed at how much better your car will run with the EBL. Let me know if you have any Crossfire specific questions.

Re: EBL Flash PRoblems

actually more of a false knock than anything, car runs better than ever. Even talked with Bob from Dynamic, and he agrees, just happens at 600 rpm at start up and then never is much of a bother again. It is 255 counts right off the bat then everywhere else is 1,2,4 or 6 very low. nothing wrong with car, no loose items, always run high test, am going to change the knock sensor to the 85 model with the esc module but need a little more info on the wiring and harness. right now he told me to set KNK - MIN CTS to enable to 150C, and even add a 1k resistor from B7 connector and 12volt switched. Gonna see what changing sensor does, but have had them go bad before. Thanks and any info from anyone on the crossfire and the EBL flash is always welcome. I am relatively new to this

Re: EBL Flash PRoblems

shim your starter, advance base timing more and update base timing in tune. i had good success going to a colder plug, brought knock counts down significantly, but i was running more compression than stock. have you replaced your knock sensor and torqued correctly?
