91 Chevy 2500/ 350 to a 383 stroker
Hello, hoping someone on here might have some good advice. Got a truck for free it’s a 91 Chevy 2500 the guy put a brand new crate 383 stroker in it, it surges runs rich and ends up dying. I’ve replaced every sensor on the dam thing and still can’t get it to run, I can’t get a base timing on it because it won’t hold a steady idle. I’m thinking maybe a new throttle body? Or is the stock computer not happy with this new motor? Thanks for any feedback.

You will need to datalog with tuner pro and tune it.
Or contact tbi chips.com
you might check your service number on the ecm 1227747 maybe.
its not to difficult to tune . Gear head efi is a great resource on how to tune or look at the top section in the diy prom section.

You could always install an aftermarket self-learning Fuel Injection system, like the Holley Sniper or FITech.

With a speed density setup like the TBI, you will have to tune it. What's going on is the cam profile of that 383 very likely has a low manifold vacuum at idle. This is interpreted by the computer as the engine being much farther up in the load curve and it's fueling for that area of the map has WAY too much fuel in it. Changing sensors won't do anything helpful for you.

ive seen the sniper I plan on buying it for a 75 ford pickup I’m building with a 460. This truck is my fiancé’s dads truck that she grew up in I don’t want it but she does so I’m trying to get it running good and the 383 is worth getting it going.
