Open element air cleaner (See Ultimate TBI in Technical Articles). Smog pump delete. Both mods are cheap, 1 is FREE!!!, and each can be accomplished in about 30 min. 'nuf said.

thats the best mod for the least amount of cash(open element air cleaner)ull feel it in the upper rpm's
get the non frop base too or u might hit the throttle cable with aircleaner bottom

make sure 2 take off gold colored spacer ring too on the Throttle body... a 3" tall element should work(at least it does on mine)
they do make smalller....
u can remove the seal in the rear o f the hood to let the HOT air out and perhaps put a piece of hard rubber in the middle(maybe a 1/2")to open it up a lil more

a 180 theremo is good(and lower turn on fan switch)
or just wire up your own and manually turn on/off
do tune up
plugs,wires,cap,rotor

also keep reading and bookmarking info and sites

alotta people say a lotta diff things but there r sum constants

subs to chevy H P and car craft dont hurt either

i wish i could travel back in time and race my car when i first got it and see how much faster it is now LOL

thank for the post.... right now my camaro runs beautifully... so to speak. I just moved to Louisiana from eastern Mississippi so I had to drive it like 8 hours(thats how I know it drives great!) Its got some pretty major stuff wrong w/ it right now though...like the T5 tranny is about to go...no reverse 3rd and 4th grind if ya dont shiftem just right, clutch is almost gone. I am just going to go w/ the T56 setup. got a radiator out of a cutlass so my heater core isnt hooked up.... i think my fan relays out so I just ran a hot wire. I gt a question too.... all my dash lights went out...any ideas of what it might be? and were is the smog pump located? Does it have a belt going to it? Ive got the one belt drives all system. Im gonna have bad a** car... but im just gonna take my time and doit right. See yall later and keep those camaros rollin....

Holley told me in an email that the factory injectors are good to around 250-260 HP, which is some pretty heavy mods on a TBI car. I'm keeping my TBI/Injectors unless I do a 350 swap and get a halltech ECM and 670 CFM TBI.

Does you radio display work when the headlights are off, and disappear when you turn them on. If so it's probably a transistor on the left wall under your driverside dash panel. I'll try and get the info on the part, but I bought mine from radio shack.

well....to make diaganosis a little bit more difficult, i dont have a radio in my car!! What happened was the light switch rotates to make the panel dimmer and brighter right?.... well i turned it one day and the dash lights flickered and then went out. I thought it might be the switch but Im not sure. headlights and tails still come on so idunno.......

It sounds to me like it's most likely the transistor. The transistor will cost you $2.95 and the switch that I replaced was about $25. When the transistor went out on my car it fried the switch also as well as the fuse. It's possible the same thing happened on your car, but I'd try fuse and transistor first. BTW, the transistor is NPN silicone, whatever that means, but you're radio shack guy should be able to look it up. Just tell him you need an NPN silicone transistor that lists for 2.95. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with. I was without dash lights for three months, so I know what it's like .

1st, don't do this mod if you have to pass emmissions (visual or sniffer) or if you don't want to spent 20-30 minutes putting this assembly back on every inspection time. This mod only gives you 1-3hp but it drops about 12 pounds and most importantly, removes engine clutter!!!! The smog pump is located directly below your AC compressor. Remove all the hoses going from the CAT and manifolds to it first and plug them. Then remove the pulley from the pump (best to loosen these bolts initially with the belt still on), remove the 2 bolts that attach it to the mounting bracket and drop it out the bottom. You usually can't get it out the top without cutting a notch in the fan housing. You will need a longer belt for the smog pump delete. 96.8in. 6 rib I believe. Check out the technical article if you have any questions.

awesome!! that sounds like the cheapest thing i can do right now..being that i have to save for a t56 and the install. A few months ago i bottomed out the car on accident and it ripped a huge hole in the exhaust right behind the cat converter...since i dont have aftermarket exhaust is the ok, or will it hurt my engine by not giving it enough backpressure? My cats not gutted and it isnt loud or anything just got sort of a rumble to it. Maybe itll give me a little lo end boost untill i can afford the real thing. Well im fixin to watch fast and furious again.... maybe i will see bad a** camaro i missed before messing up those foreign cars!!! See ya....

aww forget it!!! I just found a guy down here in Leesvile, La that showed me some pictures of some work hes done at his shop. Im just gonna go with a TPI 350 and a T56 tranny! The 305 is a real motor but there are too many millitary people around here with fast stuff and I just have to be able to compete!! Im sure all the 305ers understand! Jerry is his name and I seen some pictures of some stuff that was awesome...like in a hp chevy mag awesome! Hes gonnabe my main man so I hope by the end of summer I will have the motor and tranny in place. if yall run across any deals on the motor or transmission hit me up bwy18@hotmail.com
