LT1 vs LT4 cams
I've already got a cam from a 96 LT1 Camaro coming my way. However, somebody has offered me their LT4 cam after they pull it out this weekend. Or should I go with the torquier Impala SS LT1 cam? This car will be "chemically enhanced." Remembering that I've got a Caprice, which would the exerts of this forum suggest for me to go with?

I'm going with the LT4 HOT cam. If I'm gonna take apart my ENTIRE engine, I'm not gonna play with some cute little cam. I'm gonna get the biggest one without going overboard.
BUT, I have to get my heads machined for the screw-in rocker studs.
EDIT: I used DeskTop Dyno as a REFERENCE and it looks like the regular LT4 cam may be better for my combo. I've been researching cams for about 2 months now. Another benefit of the LT4 cam is I won't have to mess with screw-in rocker studs.

3 for LT4 so far? OK. Are these the proper specs for it? LT4 203/210 @ .050, .446/.449 w/ 1.5, .476/.479 w/1.6, 115 LS
LT4 HOT? Hmm...
Has anybody heard of the Crane "227"? Here are the specs: 104227 Crane Cam, 210/224 @ .050, .479/.518 w/ 1.5, .511/.553 w/ 1.6
It is often used for Impalas since it has such good torque output.
If I were to use 1.5 rockers, then I think it would out perform the LT4 cam with 1.6s and I wouldn't lose ANY low end torque.
Any thoughts?

Go with which ever you want. They're all going to make plenty of torque, you've got a v8, not an inline 4! Be aware that the larger the cam the more it's going to want a higher stall converter not to mention the ecm won't like you. Plan on doing custom eprom work if you go really big. It's all about how much do you want to spend on this swap to do it right?

I sent the guy $25, but he sold it. He said his friend had an identical cam with less miles on it that he'd try to send me. I changed my mind (again
) wanting to go with at least the 227 or maybe the GMPP 845, so I'm hoping he'll send my money back.
Here's his email address if he's still got it: hzbilski@earthlink.net and his name is Mark.
