Trouble codes
Trouble codes
What is code 53 and what does over voltage mean? After breaking the turn signal lever which is a multifunction lever it is triggered the security ( VATS). AND AFTER REPLACING THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER AND LOCK CYLINDER IGNITION, HAVE THE NEW KEY MADE, INSERTED IT TRIED TO START WOULD NOT START I PUT A GROUND WIRE ON THE DETERRENT MODULE TO GET THE STARTER TO START IT IT STARTS AND STOPS SECURITY LIGHT STAYS ON(
Sorry forgot to mention: 91 Camaro RS,305 TBI). I have replaced several parts nothing seems to be working security light stays on any thoughts would help thank you in advance...

Re: Trouble codes
Not sure according to the template key it's supposed to be number four of the 15 so I tried to put resistors adding up to 877 and it still didn't work and I'm not sure that the wires on the jack on the car or right in the right direction because they fell out of the coupler. The fact that color blind doesn't help me either. Cars been sitting for a couple years now ever since the wind storm we had knocked out power and the ice storm we had so I haven't been able to get back to it until now as I said before I replaced parts like fuel fuel relay , ignition switch, And I think I got the wrong turn signal letter because it doesn't match the original so the new plug doesn't work with the cruise control wiper delay dimmer. I didn't overhaul on the TBI with new injectors but when I try to start it I smell a lot of fuel like it's it's flooding once I do get it started I have to pump the pedal just to keep it going and then it quits it doesn't stay running on its own and again as I said before the security light stays on which cuts off everything. The only thing I have it done is done anything with the ECM the brain but I do think I got a grounding problem also I'm trying to fix his little things to see if maybe it'll fix it but I haven't had much luck...

Re: Trouble codes
Couple of items, code 53 on a TBI F-body is a VATs malfunction. So that riddle is solved.
When trying key codes to see which one is correct. The wrong resister will put the module into lockout mode. This is a short 2 -3 minutes period of time that even the correct resistance won't work.
So no trying to twist resister leads to together hoping for a momentary correct value. Key-off between resistor changes. Good jumper clips and a soldering iron are your friend.
