im looking to rebuild/ replace my engine this summer it has 170,000 miles on it. i know the lo3 is pretty much a crappy engine, the heads suck as do the cam and intake. is there anything that makes the block itself suck? if i were to rebuild i would use and lti cam, eldlebrock tbi intake, and some better heads. but what about my block? should i get a new one? im a poor college student so im on a limited budget.......

Change the heads, cam, intake, and exhaust and the engine no longer sucks, then again its not an LO3 anymore really . There is nothing wrong with the block itself, although you may want to add better quality pistons and things like ARP rod bolts should you decide to shoot a little nitrous through your new mill.

the block and crank are the only good thing on it =) Check out www.corral.net If they can run high 12s NA on 16 valve 4.6L so can your 5.0L.
