Engine swap with the TBI

I went to a local junkyard today and they have an 89 350 TBI out of a truck. The motor has 70,000 miles and can be mine for $500 completely assembled ready to drop in my car. I just want to know if $500 bucks is worth it to go from the 305 to 350? What is the HP and Torque rating on this motor? I don't have a lot of money to spend but would it be worth it to buy a carbed or TPI motor if I could find one and switch and get rid of my TBI? I am looking for an inexpensive way to get to around 250-275 HP N/A if not more. Thanks for any help in advance.

170HP vs. 220HP. I don't remember the torque differance. Although it might be 70-100 more TQ. L03 has 255TQ If you spent that $500 on headers you'd get the L03 to 220HP along with full exaust. But imagine the same of the 350 . Its up to you. Try to haggel on the price. They expect you to. Say you want it for a rebuild and try to get it for $150 or something.

Yea, I think it would be worth it....but there's always that risk that you'll get a POS engine. But if it's a good motor, and you have the $$, it's well worth it. I've gone from 305 to 350, and the HP gain from the swap alone is rewarding....that truck motor has 50 more Hp than the 305...that's a large increase...then of course you can still mod it if u want. Good luck.
