Cam Swap - Day ??? - Update
All the days seem to run into eachother now, barely even feels like I have time anymore.. spring break is half over.. ugh.. car must get back on the road.
All in all, it was a good day.
Having being frustrated over the crappy gaskets, I decided to place my time elsewhere. The cam got installed today, along with the timing set, the lifters, and the pushrods. Pretty sweet, I am proud of myself. I liberaly applied assembly lube to the cam and the lifters, so I feel everything is pretty safe there.
One thing I must say though, the cam was MUCH easier going in than it was coming out. Must have been my experience w/ taking out the cam that made things easier.
While being worried about what I was going to do with my gaskets, I told my dad about it. He's a salesman for this company that sells EVERYTHING. Well, he snapped his fingers and said, "I got it, I have something that just might work." He always has something that he demo's for other companies. He pulled out this can of Loctite Gasket remover. He said that they say this stuff is great. I tried it on my engine. I was supposed to wait for the "foaming action" to settle and then after 5 min or so, I can strip the gaskets off. Well, I didn't try too hard, because I was going to wait for tomorrow, and I am going to eat soon. Need to clean up you know
Well, I am happy with how today went. I don't think I screwed up my car too bad. I cleaned out my garage and organized everything so I knew WTF I was doing. Oh yeah, I also put my thermostat back on the intake.
Ahh, feels good to have accomplished something.

Hey, man, good to hear things are coming along, OK, even if you think it's taking a while. Keep us posted on how you're doing!
Anywho, I was wondering how your experience with degreeing the cam went (is this an LT1 cam from a 4thgen?). I know some people say do it and others say don't waste the time/$, just wondering if you thought it was worth it.

Hey man...glad to hear things are going better
Are you spring swaping? Cam degreeing? If you do swap out the old springs get some new valve stem seals while you have them off.
I'm going to the track on Fri night to test out my new cam and I'll let you know what kind of gain to expect. Think of how fast you will be when your done
Good luck,
Matt

I didn't degree the cam at all, there really isn't that much of a need to with a LT1 cam.
