Whos got Nitrous?

I was just wondering if anyone on the board had nitrous on their tbi and how well it worked for them.

I have had the NOS TBI kit on my 305 for about six months. Gone through about six bottles at 100 hp shots. My car already has headers and cat back. When I installed my kit I also installed the MSD digital 6, so I could retard the timing when on the juice. The kit works great, very easy to install, and provides a huge boost. The only complaint I had was the jetting form NOS came extremely rich.

That's just NOS trying to give you a bit more leeway so less people burn pistons and such.

I guess its a good little saftey measure, better rich than lean. I have had to go four jettings smaller on the fuel and am still rinning rich.

I have slp headers, flowmaster cat back, open element, high flow cat, the ignition box, and the nitrous kit. I have not been to the track yet.

okay cool... what nitrous kit are you using????

so you never came around when lot 59 would have 400+ cars on saturday nights??? it was a red camaro too.. you never raced on the 202 against another red camaro have you???

i am really thinking about using n2o but want to be safe and do it right... so i am reading up before i do it... so i dont have to rebuild my 305...

If you take the right saftey percautions and you retard ur timing 2* for every 50hp and you don't over do it and make sure u never run lean and have an upgrade ignition then you should be fine.

pimpintheRS...... I am using the NOS kit number 5153 (I think), very complete kit, only had to buy some additional wire to run my switches.

I have been to lot 59 once, but that was not me on the 202. I think I know the camaro you are talking about though, I seen it parked onside of PV west (ASU dorm).

It took me a quite a bit of research before I bought the kit. If you follow the instructions and don't cut any corners you will be ok. Although my heart was racing before I hit the switch the first time.

Yeah carb kits are way cheaper than the TBI kit, I paid about 550 for mine.

The first time I used it it was way rich, still gave a big boost though. I was just happy it worked. Now that I have gone four jettings smaller on the fuel (still rich) it is much stronger. My car has 80,xxx miles on it and have not had any problems.

I got a question. My uncle is a motor head and i told him i was thinkin about nos..my car still has the factory rear end gears and engine, exhaust is upped..and im hopin for headers and gears this summer. But if i dont do that and i do in the future put nos on..will my gears be able to handle the added torque?..and will the engine hold up?

Yeah I am also curious in what I am gonna run. I am gonna need some slicks though so I can hook. I have a nice set of Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's on their right now but slicks would be much better when runnin the nitrous. I am gonna start with a 75 shot and work my way up to 100shot and then 125 shot. I bought the MSD Timing Control Module off of him to and I sent him my throttle body to have him put a afpr, injector spacer and shave all the restrictive stuff off the tb (Ultimate TBI Mods) and clean it up real nice. I can't wait to see it. Tim (NJ Speedster) saw my TB and said I am gonna jiz when I see it. I guess he is gonna start doing that for everyone with a throttle body for pretty cheap. E-mail him about it. I will post my before and after numbers with what he did to my TBI when I install it this week. It all comes in Monday.

I need to order a fuel pressure saftey switch, bottle brackets, 10lb bottle and a nitrous pressure gauge to finish up the system. Hopefully I can get all this stuff soon. I already got a Edelbrock Performer Intake from a buddy of mine for 100 bucks (6 months used) and I am looking for an LT1 cam and then I am gonna replace the springs, timing chain & valve stems when I install the cam and intake. Maybe with that 125hp shot and slicks I will find 12's somewhere after the cam and intake swap.
