After removing cat, how did your car run?
I'm thinking of removing the CC, not gutting it. I'm going to put a pipe in place of it. I was just wondering how these cars run after the cats get removed or hollowed out. Do they sound like crap w/out one? What kind of power gain can be expected from taking it off?
Thanks!

My cars all gained quite a bit of power from removing the catolitic converter's and the sound improved as well. Of course they were for off road use only.

i've heard that cars w/out converters tend to have a harsher, less mellow exhaust note. my car came without a converter so i dont know what it would have sounded like with one but it does sound pretty aggressive.

my car sounds and runs great without it, at first i bought the "hi flow" cat but my headers were getting so hot from back pressure i had it cut out and a pipe welded in.............

My exhuast always sounded kinda "eh" with the cat on. Then I took it off and now there is no mistaking it for a 4.3
I got some power out of it too.

I took my old cat to a muffler shop and got them to bend a pipe to the same dimension. It had a bracket at one end and a sleeve fit at the other. The car sounded better and seemed to have more power.
i had my muffler guy put flanges on my cat so i could replace it with a peice of 3 inch pipe which also had flanges on it or i could run open haders. It cost me $200 for the deal butit was well worth it. I noticed a big sound increase with no cat and you can not get any louder then open headers!!
my car has a VERY nice low mellow tone to them. the only thing I've heard that is close to it is a supercharged saleen mustang. I'm not much of a stang fan, but I love those babys. :-) I'm working on a sound clip too.
