Engine Tilting?
Engine Tilting?
I have a '91 Camaro with a 305 TPI engine which appears to be tilted to the passenger side when viewed from below (ie trans pan vs. crossmember). I know that when measured at the plenum, a straight edge across the shock towers will show that the passenger side is lower than the drivers side. Is this carried throughout the engine, beyond the intake?
I'm trying to have a vibration diagnosed and the mechanic is uneasy about the fact that the passeger side of the motor sits lower than the drivers side. He wants to replace the motor mount, but I don't think it is neccessary.

Matt,
Motormount would be the first guess, assuming the suspesion is not tweaked. If the "tilt" is visable, then most definitley it should be checked....the mech should be able to pry up in the MM area and see if the the rubber is shot on the mounts or not.
My guess is you don't want to pay for the MM replacement? Lotta labor involved for a 12 dollar part, but neccessary. There may be a tech article on it, if you're handy, invloves removing the lower arm to gain access, IIRC.

The passenger side motor mount usually wears out or gets crushed quicker than the driver side mount.
Camaro6spd is right though......I've done my passenger side mount, and it includes lots of swearing.
