rev kit for roller lifters
Anybody have the kit? I'm thinking about it considering I've got a 4 bolt main and want to rev the engine to 6500 with a decent cam. I've seen parts that say the kit is great at keeping the hp high even after peak power, when/what cam do you think this would benifit? I know that a mild cam wouldn't matter much if any but I have a 2800 stall speed tc and the roller lifters, I'm looking for a cam now and lift isn't a problem, it just needs to be EFI friendly. I can program around a lot but lobe sep needs to be at least 112 if it's going to be a healthy bump stick.

afr and competition products now make rev kits for oem and retrofit
Crane Cams has one too. call PAW. www.pawinc.com They carry the comp cams ones also.
It will be under $113 at the most.

Why don't they work with the vortec heads?
I thought the rev kit had nothing to do with the heads and everything to do with the block/roller lifter setup!?!?!
Are the pushrods on an angle that they don't aline with the rev kit or is it something like a disclaimer for them so people don't use the kit on vortec heads with stock springs and the crappy push in studs?
Thanks for that other link, they're a LOT less expensive than the AFR kit.

there is a aluminum plate that fits under the head
i imagine they don't have one that correctly mates to the botom of a vortec head. But with some measurements, one could be made quite easy. u just need some aluminum stock about .5 inch thick and drill a few holes.

its just a seconday valve spring that does not compress on the lifter plunger
. It gets around (sort of) the 120-125lb limit of your average hydraulic valve spring. The springs they use are like .8" diameter and about 2" tall. Fully compressed is like 60lbs and when the valve is on the seat they are like 40lbs.
I have a afr and thought i might have to make either an aluminum plate or find a bigger spring when i went to reduced base circle so i did a lot of looking at the spring.
But, having said that, just about any properly setup 1.45" spring will allow about 6250 on a hydroller b4 float. Shoot for 125lbs on the seat when you set them up.
The rev kits are also a pain to install. Takes about 90mins easy and thats when you get good. Also when you pull the head off the springs end up weadging the head back as you loosen the bolts. Also a pain.
