Pushrod clearance ?

I'm building a 350 with Vortec heads as it seems half of the people posting here have or are planning to do. My question is this. As I was checking the pushrod clearances I found that I had only about .025" clearance between the pushrod hole and the pushrod. I'm using the GM Hot Cam Kit with the 1.6/1 RR's. As I was reading the instructions that came with the kit it said that a minimum of .040" is required. What is the best way to clearance the pushrod holes and from your experiance is it nessasary to have a minimum of .040" clearance? Had I known at the time I had the heads being machined for spring retainer to seal clearance i would have had this done as well. Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

if it says .040 at least then i'd shoot for that, try a die grinder to open the holes up
