is my alternator broken b/c then maybe thats why the windows went up slow and the head unit went on the fritz and the comp runs off the battery which runs off the alternator which runs off the engine? am i right?

and im thinking that my comp runs of the battery which runs off the alternator and the comp controls the fuel injection? therefore when the battery was at bare bones the service light went on and when i hit the gas, no gas went through. and there were no leaks accept for 3 small drops of trans fluid which i think had nothing to do with this.......... but there was smoke coming from under the distributor.

what happened when you tried to crank it after it died? if it wouldnt even crank then it's probably your alternator. some parts stores will check them for free if you pull it off and bring it in. if it ends up being the alternator, make sure you charge/replace your battery before starting the car to prevent alternator death.

after it died i cranked it and u could hear the starter crank but the car didnt start almost like there was no fuel gettin in and i watched the alternator and the fan in it went and then immediatly stopped. isnt it supposed to just spin from when u start it to when u turn it off?

Sounds like you got it, but yep, that'll be the alternator. Once it stops charging, you're just running on the battery. That'll only last for so long, and then everything just kind of gets weaker and weaker and cuts off. Last time it happened to me, I was on the interstate at night. First my blinkers got really slow, then my dash and headlights started dimming, lost power, started missing, and finally died (the car, not me).

I'd rather deal with the problems from the wheels!
