TPI to CARB What do I need?
I am correct in assuming you have the Edelbrock intake to fit 87 & later FI heads.
You'll need a fuel press regulator or different fuel pump to get that fuel pressure down to 5-7psi...
You'll need your throttle cable/bracket for your tranny (if auto)
You'll need to convert to another non-cc distributor
Does your sensors ect... run off the computer? How bout your speedo?
I think that pretty much sums it up.

he is correct is saying you need a new fuel pump or regulator.
However, if you plan on using the stock fuel pump, you will need to re-wire it.
the pump will not pump gas becuz the ECM wont know if the engine is running, cuz you have taken off the sensors.
the only time it will pump is when you initally turn the key forward, then it will pump for 2 seconds, just long enough to fill up the carb. floats...then the car will run for about 30 seconds or so.
It took me about a week to figure this out when i did the same swap.
What I ended up doing was running the fuel pump lead to a on/off toggle and then to the battery.
After a while, the pump died, so I put on a Holley external, its great, didnt even need to remove the old pump.

My brother swapped out the tpi setup for a carb. The big thing was a non cc distributor. A presure regulator with a gauge. Run the excess fuel back to the tank using the stock lines. The fuel pump is now on a Toggle on/off switch. That is about everything. The speedo acts funny too and he still has the computer.

I'd highly recommend NOT to get a regulater. I've done this swap on many cars and I often have fuel spike problems when I run a regulater, what I do is a lot more reliable............Just buy a $54 Carter electric street/strip pump (7psi) and disable your in-tank pump, and mount the carter right outside the tank on the rear seat "wall". That way you do'nt have to run any kind of return line. Works perfect on my cars. I did however run the Barry Grant bypass on my firebird for a year with no problems, but on two other cars I had problems so......??
