both upper and lower radiator hoses collapsing

i had my hood up checking what seems like a slight exhaust leak. I gave my car partial throttle and both the hoses started to collapse and the more throttle i gave it the more it collapsed. There not that old but could they still need to be replaced? Car runs right around 210-220 unless i dog it and then it runs hotter. Also the radiator is out of a 85 cutlass with auto cause i couldnt get a new one at the moment. Its a little smaller but not much. I also dont have a coolant resivor. Could that hurt it? My cars a 5 speed so i dont have to worry bout the radiator having to cool tranny fluid.

thanks for the suggestions, but why would a cap or overflow bottle cause the hoses to collapse?

I think he's suggesting just get a new bottle since most are horrible looking.

The radiator cap keeps pressure in the system, maybe a faulty one doesn't hold pressure and the hoses collapse cause of it??
But I don't see how..

Usually an upper hose collapsing is a sign of a stuck thermostat. I'd try replacing that first.

haha...replace the thermostat!! Man i wish that were as easy as it sounds!! A few months ago when i replaced the thermostat we broke the bolt in the housing. No easy out or anything could get it so we had to drill it out. And there was no possibility of rethreading either. Somehow my friends dad rigged it where theres a nut on the undersided of the intake or something and then theres a bar that sits.....damit i wish i could take a picture cause its REALLY hard to explain what the deal is with it...but in shorter terms the only way im gonna replace the t-stat is if i replace the enitire intake. Dont quite have the $$ for that yet. But why would my bottom hose be collapsing? isnt that the return side? I dunno whats goin on. It doesent run hot but i dont dogg on it much either so i guess till i can get an intake ill just baby it like i usaully do. Thanks for the suggestions guys and keep em comin!!

My upper hose was collapsing, replaced rad. cap and all was good. Go to the parts store and get a new cap.

that's why i suggested getting the overflow bottle (aka coolant resevoir). it doesn't help any not being there.:nono:
