Only one real Vortec head, two different casting numbers. 906 and 062 I believe it is. They came on like 96 and 97 trucks only, if you're getting a older engine it won't have them stock like it sounds like you're thinking, perhaps I was misunderstanding.
To use TPI on it you need the Vortec specific TPI intake that Scoggin Dickey sells for like $400ish... I'm not aware of anyone else selling one, might be mistaken.
There's no H on the end of Vortec when referring to the heads by the way, Vortech makes superchargers...

ok cool but still i want to use my manafold on vortec heads, i`ve already bybassed the egr and disabled it in the prom. now can the tpi manafold be "adjusted" i havent seen a pair ov vortec heads but i think the manifold bolts go straight down, where mine are at an angle and also the 4 center bolts arent used, correct? or is this whole vortec thing just a waste of time? thanks for the help

As I understand it you can hack your manifold to take the vertical bolt pattern (can you say vacuum leaks?) or buy a Vortec TPI manifold base. The only source I know for a Vortec manifold base is Scoggin-Dickey Performance Center. You can find them at:
http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...1460&pid=13740
for $399
Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

The issue isn't really the bolts or holes. It is the intake ports. The vortec heads have taller intake ports than normal small block heads. The two cannot be made to match without welding more material onto the stock TPI intake base and then porting it to match the heads.

The Snogin piece is nice. I cant say how it's perfromance is unported but it not only comes with the manifold base but with the relocation of the EGR passage way. Makes it a bot on deal, and it is not where to skimp! ...unless you want to fail smog.
