i havent got to look at it yet but a guy i know is selling a l98 and 700r4 from a totalled iroc for 500$ i was thinking buy it keep the tranny and sell the TPI on ebay and get most of my money back and start building the 350 and sell whatever parts i dont need

 

Yes, if I came across an L98 with the TPI on i and wiring harness (even w/o the computer) and the 700R4 attached, for $500, it'd be in the back of my pickup, in my shop, awaiting a new home

My only concern would be if the engine can spin freely.

 

Assumign the engine and tranny wasn't damaged in the crash..jump on it. Try to get the wiring harness out of it with the motor as well.

 

he told me that the bellhousing came up threw the dash but it still started and everything...how could i check to see if its freespining? maybe but the starter on it and juice the starter?

 

take the plugs out and turn it over by hand, even with the plugs in, it just takes some wrenching to turn it over by hand
