i have a 82 camaro, 305, 10-1 comp, 467 lift cam on both sides 222 duration, summit polished intake, stock dist, with a 48000 volt coil, a 500 carter carb thats 2 years old, it has a miss when it gets hot, when you hit the gas it will just about die then go, and when you go to stop at a light it will just about die, also it doesnt have the power it should have idle - 3000 rpm, could this be plug wires? my cap and rotors new, new summit high psi fuel pump, new fuel filter, any suggestions? thanks

 

If the engine runs normally under a load, I doubt the ignition is a problem. Generally, a weak ignition (wires / cap and rotor) will start and idle the engine but fail to deliver adequate spark under a load. Even a weak (hot) coil will exhibit the same kinds of symptoms.

I'm guessing you may have a lean condition at low RPM. Have you removed the plugs to inspect them? Does the engine start immediately or with some difficulty? Possibly a low float level, too.

 

when you first start it you have to pump it, when it gets warm and you let it sit for 2-10 mins, it takes 4 turns tho start, it will hit at 2 but no tstart to 4 while a while back it would start first turn, i havent checked my plugs yet,
