Hey all,

What would you say my car could run the 1/4 mile in, and horsepower figures?

92 Camaro z28 5.7 TPI
Freshly rebuilt engine
Freshly rebuilt trans with Corvette servo, transgo shiftkit, 2300rpm stall converter.
Hooker 3" catback
Firestone Firehawk SZ 50 ep's (90% tread)
K&N's
TB Bypass/EGR walls removed/160 thermo

??? I'm thinking about 14.2-14.3 and about 260hp?

Also... my next mod I am thinking is a used set of SLP 1 3/4 headers when I can find a set... anyone selling a good set of headers for a good price?
What would the headers get me? 10 more hp? .1 or .2 in 1/4?
What would you guys recommend from your expertise to do after that? port the intake? tryin to stick to bolt-ons for the next year or so then i'll do heads/cam.

Stock heads and cam? Stock TPI setup? I'd say no more than 205ish RWH and maybe 14.5-14.9@93 corrected times. 260 RWH would put a thirdgen F body with good gears and driving in the 13 second range. My girlfriends 305 camaro probably makes 270 HP at the crank per the 305 Car Craft buildup for reference, and around 210 at the wheels and it runs 14.6 at 98mph (obviously the MPH doesn't match the 1/4 time....60ft was around 2.6 with good driving it'd go at least 14.3), and is enough to smoke just about any near stock or even mildly modified 350 TPI cars that I've raced in it. Throw some cam at it, a set of headers, a better intake and better gears, then you'll be looking at some better times. You can only make a car so fast with a stock cam. I've discovered through MANY car projects that you ultimately will NOT go very fast until you take out the stock emissions friendly cam.

 

I'd say with headers you'll be at high 13s.

What kind of gears do you have in the car? A set of 3:42s would help out a lot.

14.5 or 14.6 sounds fair to me. Thats the best I could run with that same setup. With headers I think you could squeeze maybe 2 or 3 tenths off that, still probably wont see 13's though.

 

Wouldn't a stock 92 run a 14.4 or so. He's also added the TransGo, servo and a 2300 Stall which should knock .3 off or so. Add headers on that, and I'd say high high 13s.

 

yeah I was thinking that my car was a LOW 14 second ride, not a mid 14 sec. like you guys are saying :/ hrmmm.
I think with headers, LCA reloc. brackets, full port of the intake, relocate MAT sensor I could see 13.99999's
