I bought a felpro seal for a 4.3 V6 the other day and it came with a sleeve to make installation easier but that is the only part # iI have bought that had it. I allways check for burrs on the end of the crank and if none I lube it and the ID of the seal with Lubriplate 105 and work it on. I have never had a problem with leaks.

As stated above...lube the inside of the seal real good....do not put anything on the outside of the seal.

Just start in one corner and roll the inner lip around while pushing it in.

Once it starts all the way around..take a small hammer and lightly tap it fully into place.

Piece of cake!

Yea, I always do what engineboy does, roll it around the end of the crank to get it all on and in place. Putting the seal in the housing itself is easy, get a flat piece of wood (or similar) and just press it in by hand, making sure you are pushing it in straight and not crooked.

Just push it in slowly and watch the inner seal lip...you will know if it starts to go the wrong way.
