TBI<-->Carburated --> 327cid

ok, i have a problem... *cough cough*
well.. actually, after of thinking about it, i'll make it a real problem..
a 327... i've got the tpi of my car that i can use.. but i'll either have to make extensive modifications.. or just put on a mini ram to get that thing to spool up quicker and actually suck something through the plenum @7000 rpm..
but i don't feel like spending over a grand on a super ram or mini ram.. (being somewhat cheep here.. would rather spend it on suspension/drivetrain then get a mini ram)
now, would a TBI work with this? lets say i got one off a 454 or something like that..
or should i go carburated with either a dual carb setup (like two 370 cfm or so street avengers) or a big 700 cfm carb.
which would i get more preformance out of with a 7000 rpm 327? i'm somewhat concerned with fuel ecconomy.. not that i'll be driving it to work, but the track is a good two hours drive away and i go almost every weekend.. (i'm out in the country) and i go to "the city" alot also.. and that's an hour drive....
i also want to take into account which is more problematic or harder to tune..

(side note: i was reading the "which is better for a 305" and the argument between the moderators really interested me since i keep putting down my friend's 355 TBI camaro.. althought the moderators went a bit overboard on it, i'd like to see more experiance on them)
(side note 2: i would REALLY like to know which would be better on a 327)

Good idea, Bird_of_Prey, maybe we'll get some useful, condensed info out of the moderators that are bent on killing each other with words...

BTW, I voted carb. Ease of set-up, and tunability were my two main reasons. If you're not experienced with GM ECMs, then tuning a PROM for a 327 (especially as they can rev higher, and can be slightly more "peaky" than most SBC's) can take months, if not years, of learning, burning, and tuning.

i will agree with the ease opf set up for a carb, but i believe in teh long run tbi will be shown to make better power and get better mileage than a carb.

i'd go for carb too.. easier to tune alot more people around with experiance in carbs so if i got Q's.. i know i'll be able to find an answer somewhere..
and there's a good aftermarket for carburated engines..
'n that's where i lean to.
somebody make me lean the other way..
and years of prom burning is not appealing.

My vote goes carb. I wouldn't TBI anything that I wanted to make power out of. If you wanted it as a daily driver then maybe I would have said TBI where gas milage was the highest concern and performance secondary.

Much like some of the moderators, until I see someone actually post timeslips instead of "shoulds" and "I thinks" I won't take TBI serious.
