I see a war coming!
Well, it depends on what you want. Is it a stock replacement? You are going to get ALOT of opinions and people are probably going to start arguing over which system is best and for which application. I would say that if it is a stock replacement crate motor, stay with what you have if it works.

Depends, what are emissions like? Switching to TPI will cost more, may be a little more complicated, but will get better gas milage. Carbs are cheap and easy to tune.

emission
Hmm..
Well I figured most people would just say throw TBI out the window because I hear that high performance engines starve with TBI.
I Don't really know which is better between Multiport and Tuned port.. (comments)? what is the difference?
and where people would argue I think would be between the issue of Carb vs fuelie.
well.. I've decided to stay fuelie, cause I like Fuel injection. easier to start, works with my remote start.. consistent fuel flow, can do stuff with computers to change the way your engine runs via chips, and I like how you can easily diagnose where problems are at.

What crate motor?
What is the budget?
What are the goals / targets (HP, ET, or other)?
I have a certain amount of experience with TBI in an attempt at higher-than-stock performance over a period of a few years on a friend's vehicle. It was, to say the least, highly unsatisfactory at best, and really more of a complete failure. It never did run right, and certainly never came close to running even with what a carb would have run on the same engine. The owner eventually replaced it with a port system (not TPI of course, he wanted something with true performance potential) and we smashed the TBI unit (Holley by that time) to powder with large earth-working hand tools. That was highly rewarding. IMHO if your goal is anything above about 300 HP with fuel injection, you're money ahead going straight to an aftermarket port injection system of some kind, and not messing around with TPI.

Sorry_details
sorry... forgot the details...
The Crate motor I want is GM performance parts zz4 the 385hp one.. (I know thats not rwhp)
My goal is to be running 12's in the 1/4
Horsepower prolly round 400
budget? I can't do everything at once.. But I just want to make the car do it. so I don't really know what to set for a budget.. I usually can spend about 1500.00- 2000.00 a year doiing something to the car each year. I save back money foir spring, and then I do stuff to the car in the spring.. cept this year I didn't do much cause I built myself a new computer (1200.00)

ok.. but thats carb
ok.. but that's a regular Carbuerator right? I want F.I. 12's
.. If I put a tPI setup on that engine as is.. do I have to
get bigger fuel lines? Do I have to have bigger injectors?
what bout the intake manifold itself.. with carbs.. u can pick and choose with intake manifolds.. what bout tpi setups.. Do I just
have to use whatever intake the TPI setup comes with?
Fuel pump? this is going to be a real headache figuring out what
to do aint it.
hehe

duh...
Get a Mini-Ram or maybe the Holley Stealth Ram. Probably a good bit cheaper and more either of those ways than buying a TPI and modding it, or whatever.
Of course a ZZ4 is about $3500 by the time it's in your hands, and one of those FI setups is another $1500 or so... I don't think you're going to get very close to your budget no matter what.

Any factory FI will really bog down and hurt performance in a good motor like that without major mods and money. I would go with aftermarket FI or the best and cheapest way is just throw a carb on that carb crate motor.

Aftermarket FI
I am going to do a little research
on aftermarket FI setups.
I think maybe that's the way to go.
I think this is going to cost me
around 10,000 all said and done.
