Horsepower

Im pretty sure that my new 305 has a 9 to 1 compression. With 262 heads (the monza heads if everyone remembers ) a new Comp Cam, Performer Intake, and 600cfm carb............ How much Horsepower would you GUESS I would have??? I dont know if my engine is bored out or not..........I havent had it miched yet... Im hoping to be pushing somewhere in the 200's with that 9-1 compression!!!

Easy 200s as long as you get some headers.

A Camaro GooRoo friend of mine said that with that compression and a new 262xe cam I would be close to 300horses.............However I dont think so...........But he knows everything there is to know about cars..... It just seems so out of reality... My stock 305 has 170 horses. So with this new one I hope to be in the low 14's with the stuff I listed and Headers.

I don't see 300 with a 262 on a 305, without some major head work, even then I doubt it.

I told him he was smoking crack!!! It would be nice though wouldnt it!!! If I can break the 260hp range I would be more than happy... Then throw some NOS in there for the Track. I just want to see some 14's on the time slip. My best with this old engine is 15.9. And that SUCKS!!!

There's no reason to need 300hp for 14s. Heck with the 262 cam, good intake, headers and free flow exhaust, add some gears and a TC if you have an auto and you'll be in the 14s with ease.

Well I have the gears----3.73's
and have a 5 spd......

What I dont have is Horse Power!!!!

I figured with 373s I would be faster than what I am now.....Im just hoping its the fact that I have 207,000 miles on this engine. 373s usually take a big chunk of time off and Im running mid 16s on average. Sometimes a lot higher. I just wish I had better heads than those Monza crappers to work with.........But they do have a good flow to them.........So they might work.
