Really Dumb Question
Really Dumb Question
But Im full of dumb questions...........I just found out that I have a hydraulic clutch..........I hear a sound like weeoowww everytime I shift, so Im assuming that Im low on fluid. So heres my question. What kinda of fluid is it........Clutch Fluid????
Well, I'd have to admit that my T-5 has never made a "weeoooowww"
sound when shifting, but if you are low on clutch fluid, you're supposed to use brake fluid. Like DOT 3, or something, but the parts store should carry the latest version, which will work fine.
Put it in the little white resevoir on the drivers side of the firewall.

you'd kind of have to do a better job of describing the sound to get any answers. where exactly is it coming from? that sort of thing....

if it only does it in second gear thats a pretty sure bet its a problem with the trans. are you sure you're hearing it come from the clutch?
I've had several bad and slipping clutches....you'll usually smell a very distinct odor from a clutch slipping, course you have to have your windows down.

eh...not really. i've driven several hydralic clutches and they're actually very quiet. you could have a slight slip, or maybe the clutch assembly needs adjusting.
but yeah, check your fluid first. of course i cant say i've ever had to add clutch fluid to a hydralic clutch...if you're low on fluid in one of those that means somethings pretty wrong.

Are you sure it's a "Weow" noise instead of a "Meow"???
Could be a cat stuck in your clutch linkage.

If only I had simple problems like that!!
Actually its hard to diagnose were its coming from. Im starting to think that it might be coming from the Tranny now? What would I need to do to fix that? This is a little late, and I can't offer any help, but I do remember the sound you're describing now. I hear it everyonce in a while when I downshift into too low of a gear without matching the engine revs with the movement of the car. It's like the synchros are whining, trying to get the gear up to speed with the other shaft.
I've never had a problem with my synchros (LOTS of other problems with my T-5, tho...), so I'm guessing it's not terminal.

SSE,
Unfortunately, you may also have a problem with the throwout bearing, clutch diaphragm fingers, pilot bearing, or input shaft bearing. Cross your fingers.
