Swaping in 327

I am going to be droping in a 327 this summer(hopefully by 6/30/02) i am running my stock LO3 TBi and wondering what i am going to need to do to the ECM(probablly needs a custom) and the wiring for the older block and no fuel injection? Please give me any kinda pointers you can hear. i am needing to get rid of my slllooooowww a$$ LO3 soon! Or I am just being a moron and do not have anyhting to worry about since there is no Fuel injection and it's not a computer controlled motor? Any $.02 is a helpful $.02

If you are keeping it carbed, you wont need the ECM...just the HEI distributor, should be a fairly easy swap..

You will need newer style heads for accessories.

You will need a pre85 flywheel/flexplate.

There shouldnt be any more problems. Leave out the ECM.

You'll need a fuel pressure regulator to knock the 12psi from the TBI setup down to around 5lbs for the carb.

keep the TBI fuel injection, get a chip, and put this intake on it. $95 intake + $12 adapter + chip =

So no ECM, pre 85 flywheel(buying a new one) anything else?

IRCo22: what year heads are you referring to? i am assuming 87 and up? Due to the a/c braket and such.

Tas: you saying that, buy that manifold, keep my TBI and ECM, adapter, and custom chip. That manifold looks like it's for a 4 barrell(but i suppose that is what the adapter is for, huh?) LOL
What will i need to due to make my TBI put out the flow numbers i am going to be needing for the 327 with Ross racing pistons 11:1, undesided on a cam, Eagle ESp rods, Dart Iron Eagle Heads(CNC ported by local shop) and milled down to 60cc so it should make to comperssion around 11.5:1. Is the TBI with 350 injectors enough to feed this motor? I really do not want to by a aftermarket TBI from Holley. If it comes to that I will go with the carb

Because a 327 isn't going to make any low end power. It's a big bore, short stroke motor, and more importantly, it's a small cubic inch motor. You're going to need rpm to make that motor what it should be.

First you need to decide on your cam.....then buy the stall to match the power band...my motor kicks in at about 2800-3000..but it also keeps making power to 7000. I think with the setup you have, without the stall, You wont be very street happy. Do some research and you will see what I mean...Talk to Probuilt on the tranny board. He can get you set up right.

thanks for the help here guys!!! I do realize that the 327 has to have high rpms to make its power and thus the higher stall. I got that. But no one has answered my question about keeping the TBI. It's a good easy swap in either way but for ECm sake it would be better to keep the TBI. My only concern is iut going to be enough to fed this bulit 327 at the higher rpms where it is going to need to the most. I know I can get the ECM to make up some of the diffrence, but what other options do I have other than 350 injectors or a Holley 670 cfm.

The answer is clearly to carb it or miniram/LT1/Stealth Ram it.

Anything less would be uncivilized.
