Holy $hitballs Batman!!!
Ok yesterday I found a broken fuse in my driver side panel. I had no Idea what it was for, So I did what anyone would do......I put a new one in! Well Nothing happened. So I drove home and went in. Came back out to my car and opened the door............BELLS,WHISTLES,SIRENS!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP....My car alarm went nutz!!!! Well that would be normal except I didnt know I had a car alarm.....So I had no way to turn it off except to yank the fuse....SO my QUESTION is how do I get the remote for the Alarm.. I might as well use it if I have it.... MY heart is still pacing a little fast
It may be an older alarm that didn't have a remote. On those systems, you had 30 seconds upon opening a door to turn the key on. But if the alarm went off the second you opened the door this may not be the case. The best way I'd say (rhymes hehe) is to find the alarm's brain and write down the model # on it and then look it up from there. You can find the alarm's brain by tracing the power wire to wherever the brain is, or tracing the wires from the siren to the brain. Good luck. :lala:

I sorta know how you feel, when I got my car it had an alarm and then the keychain thing used to work it got smashed. So I never worried about. Well, when my ground to the battery was loose, it would trip the alarm so it was activated sort of. My car would not start once the ground connection was good. Turns out there is a trip switch that has to pushed at a certain moment in order for the car to start. Talk about a frustrating thing to try and solve.
Mark A Shields, if that was the case I would just disconnect the main power wire to the alarm. After all, without having the remote to the alarm having it hooked up seems kind of pointless. And then you won't go deaf everytime you disconnect the battery to do work on the car.

When I bought my Iroc, the previous owner failed to tell me about the secret starter disable under the dash. You have to wave the keychain near a sensor and it beeps, which enables the starter. I got down the street to a gas station before I had to call him up and ask him WTF.
Then 45 minutes later, the transmission let go.

funny, i have the same situation. I bought my car about a month ago, and haven't been able to make any sense out of the alarm. I haven't tried too hard, but the seller didn't tell me anything about it. I hope I don't pizz it off some day and kill my battery.
I was in the library at school when I read your post, SLowstang, and I laughed pretty loud. People were staring at me, but I really needed the laugh. Hope you got it under control!
