I have the same problem with mine. My cat is only a year or two old and I've changed my fuel filter about a million times. One guy said it may be my O2 sensor, so I'm gonna try that.
86TA,
Since you're running a TPI, check the TPS voltage and make sure the IAC is whistle clean. And since you have an '86, check into the upgraded GM PROM for you ECM that addresses some of the problems you might be having. It made a pretty noticable difference in my '86.

Your problem isn't likely the same, since you are using an E4ME carb. Check the M/C solenoid, and the accelerator pump operation. Lean problems at throttle tip-in are very easy to solve on a carb with a few adjustments and cleaning.

Vader,
So you don't think it'smy O2 sensor? I haven't changed it for atleast 100,000 mi. My mcs clicks like it's supposed to, but I don't know how to check my accelerator pump. Hell I don't even know what it is!

Check your fuel pressure if it is too high then car will hesitate. Also your timing should be advanced about 10 degrees and check your TPS voltage, especially at WOT (you dont need to run the car, just turn the key and open the throttle the whole way and see the voltage).
