How hard is it to remove the oil dipstick tube?

When i installed a set of hooker supercomp shorty headers on my gta i had to bend the dipstick tube around to get it to clear the headers. Well now its "bent out of shape" in more ways than one because it is very hard to pull the dipstick out and i don't think i can bend it back. I've seen these flexible deals on summit and i was thinking of those but i was wondering how hard it is to remove the old dipstick tube from the engine in the car......

Thanx again................

Umm, remove the bolt or nut holding the "arm" that's welded to the tube and pull it straight up. The tubes just slip into the block, no pressing or threading.

Where is the bolt?? I tried to take out the tube and when I did it broke off. So I pinched the tube closed for now. The tube came out some but not all of the way. Something is holding it back. Anythoughts what it could be? Is there something inside the oil pan? I checked the block and I didn't find a bolt there. I took the bolt off at the top of the tube. This happen when I installed my hooker shorties.

IF YOU HAVE THE ROOM TO WORK (:sillylol: :sillylol: :sillylol: )

shove a 1/4" bolt into the tube (after you un-pinch it) clap it with some vice grips and rotate/pull it out of the block.

Good Luck

I can work on a lift. Do you think I will have enough room? And is there anything in the oil pan that could stop it from coming out?

i've had some like has already been said it's just slipped into the block "fall out" and others i've destroyed trying to get them out. like was already said it's just slipped into the block, nothing holding it other than friction. might want to try a little heat or penetrating oil.

And if it is really stuck, cut it off as close to the block as you can and use a #3 easyout and "unscrew" it from the block. The easyout will draw it upward as you turn it CCW.
