starting probs, car cranks forever when cold
Ok, 87 GTA TPI 350. The problem is that when the car is cold, especially after it's sat overnight, it is really hard to start. It cranks for 8 or 9 seconds before it fires up. My first instinct was to say it was the fuel pump relay, but that is not the case, as I can hear the pump priming the line before I crank the motor over. If I turn the car back off immediately after I get it started, it is again hard to start. But once I get it started, it runs fine
And if it's warm, or has run sometime in the last few hours, it starts up fine.
So it's not the fuel pump relay. And if it was a sensor of some sort, you'd think it would run bad after I got it started. So... what does that leave? Could it have something to do with the cold-start injector? Ideas, please!!

It could be a problem with the IAT sensor. The ECM looks at the IAT and ECT. If both sensors are reading within approx. 10-15 degrees of each other, then the ECM knows it's a cold start. If the IAT or ECT is reading off, the ECM won't know to give extra fuel for the cold start.
What are the IAT and the ECT? My car does the same thing. The longer it has sat with out being cranked over, the harder it is to start. Sometimes in the am it will start on the first crank. But 99 per cent of the time it takes 3 or 4 hard cranks to start. The first two, nothing just cranking, by the third, it will start go to 1500 rpm back down to 700rpm and then die. By the 4th crank it will do the same but stay running. No rough idle or any other problems. I bought a fuel filter to see if that would help any. Even if it does not fix the prob, it won't hurt because my car has 113k miles. Otherwise, after many hours of working on it, my car is finally starting to run properly

Well, it was a good thought, but that wasnt it. The CTS and MAT are only like 7 degrees apart, and it still cranked forever. Any other suggestions? Oh yeah, and the IAC motor is in the correct position, I checked that while I had the scanner.
