First time at Track, need psi info
hey guys. I'm going to the track for the first time tonight and was wondering what kind of tire pressure you guys run. I have 245 50's on it right now with all the free mods. Right now leaving at an idle I have to roll very slowly into the throttle and am stil spinning through first gear (5000 RPM). However; thats on the street with 35 psi all the way around. Thanks in advance. Drive on..............Damien

It varies depending on the tire/rim combo. You'll just have to experiment.
I found that (on a different app) the tire worked best when inflated to the max pressure (44psi). It was the correct width rim for the tire too. Just so happens thats what it liked.
I'm sure you can do some experimenting close to home.

Street tires? Not unless you like making a smoke show and wasting rubber. I usually give a quick spin to throw the rocks off if the track is a dirty one.
If you can, definitely drive around the water box. Some tracks for reasons unknown to me wont let you do that though.

I found maxing the front out (45psi) to lessen rolling resistance and about 26psi in the rear of my Firestone SZ50's worked best.
But it's really about testing and tuning at the track.

I do a lot of street racing with my car and run a Mcreary tire- TRUE RADIAL TIRE- @10psi and it works
...You just gotta know your car....EVEN THOUGH it's a radial try bringing it down to like 15psi and see if it makes a difference....It should, but it really depends on the car, like how heavy it is and how much power you have and also put your front tires to 40psi.

Thanks for the info guys. Tonight I pumped the front to 45 psi and left the back at 35psi. I was going to change it from 35 - 20 after the first time run but since I got there so late I only got 2 time runs and didn't want to change anything. The car was not as quick as I expected it to be but I had a hard time keeping it hooked. best run was 2.042 60' 9.336 75.21 660' and 14.654 93.87 1/4 mile. 60' was what I thought it would be but wasn't making enough HP
on the big end. Other runs were around 2.15-2.18 60' and a 2.287 burnout. I was pretty inconsistent but I did manage to go 3 rounds before going .496 red
Do these 60's and 1/4 mile ET's sound about right or am I way off? Thanks again. Drive on....................Damien
