LS1 intake on a regular small block
ok, so you can put a LT1 intake on a regular small block right.
so...
does anybody modify LS1 intakes to fit onto a regular small block...
or...
how similar is the LS1 to the LT1?
just thinkin

im almost positive you cant. I think thats its not even a 350 any more. the ls1 is completely different than a lt1. Bolt holes are different and everything. maybe some ppl can back me up on this stuff.

okey dokey...
I wonder if i could somehow fabricate my own "ls1" style intake that can fit on my car.
I think i can scrounge up some aluminum to do this...
If i do, what would be an ideal intake runner length/size for a 400-427 small block? i even betcha you could probably be able to use some of the TPI stuff for this. and i have an old edelbrock victor intake i can use for a base and such.
thanks

Some of the calculation for the "ideal" runner length is going to depend on your specific engine parameters, like valve timing, intended RPM range for peak charging effect, and runner cross sectional diameter. I can probably fins a formula for you to calculate if you're really interested.

It'd be a physical impossibility unless you also used the heads, which wont directly bolt up.
I'd forget duplicating the intake. Most of the power potential from the LS1 is in the heads, not the intake.

agreed the heads are the big key on the ls1's not to mention the sequentail injection system....extremely efficent!
to your first question i also was wonderiong and the answer is no they use different block altogether, 15 degree heads and a cathedral style intake runner. if you did make one it'd still be limited and be pointless on the standard 23degree heads.
