I am writing this for a guy I work with. He has a 87 IROC. The problem is it wont start. The car cranks ,but wont turn over. I first checked to see if it wasnt getting gas. I poured a little in the 4barrel carb ,and she still would'nt start. Buy the way its a LG4.
I then checked for spark ,and there was none. We replaced the cap ,and rotor. Still no spark. What could this be? Bad coil? I fell upon this because he was selling the car ,and I was interested in having a IROC . To bad it has a LG4. I have a 87 Sportscoupe
with the same motor. Didnt relize they came with a LG4. Anyways would like to hear her run .Any solutions?

 

I'm pretty sure that no irocs came with the LG4. Have you pulled the plugs? It's got to be an ignition component if there is no spark, the coil is a good place to look if it's 15 years old.

 

Yes, some IROC-Z28's did come with that engine.

 

I'd try the coil. Seems to be the only thing left.



350 TPI
