Another engine prob!!!!
I was on my way to work Friday morn. and my car died out on me 3 times. On the last stall it did not start again. About 2 months ago I took it to a shop and they said my fuel pump was ok(even though I thought it doesn't prime as it once did), fuel filter was ok, they suggested I get a new battery cause it was making the Alt. work a little harder. I put in new plugs, wires, cap, an rotor around 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I'm trying to see what I may have overlooked. The engine is high mileage w/171,000 on the clock. Has anyone had a fuel injector problem or computer quit on them. I plan on replacing the motor some time soon, but can't do it exactly at this time, maybe in a month or so. But for the time being I got to get to work. Appreciate any and all comments.....

inside the disrtibutor, under the rotor..a plastic looking piece with 4 wires connected to it..there are 2 screws holding it in... Should look like one of these...most likely one of the 2 outside ones in the pic....

What does the Accel part run for? Should I upgrade even though the vehicle is mostly original(engine wise)? How would I know if my chip has been changed and if not stock what the specs are? Thanks!!!

I'd go for a good 'ole delco module or an msd module. A lot of accel's ignition products are, well, of "questionable" quality to put it kindly. I've bought 3 of their products and NONE of them were on my GTA for long. Let's see. Bought their ignition module. Big mistake. The car was hard to start and ran poorly. popped a stocker back in there and it fires up with a quickness every morning. Bought their "performance" cap/rotor. The top of the rotor ate up the distributor cap (kept rubbing it) and my car ran like crap because all the contacts under the cap were covered in plastic dust. Put a borg warner cap/rotor and its just fine. And then i bought their "super coil" which wasn't so super. It caused my tach to have fits above 3000 rpm and sometimes just go blank. Threw an MSD blaster coil in there and my tach works again. If thats not enough to make you think, there have been other people on this board who have similar problems with accel.......

Yeah, I just used th pic because it was handy....I use the Delco brand myself....runs about 25.oo at autozone. Seems alot of people bag on accel here on the board, I only use accel wires, But, I have MSD heat shielding on them. Guess its all a matter of personal preference. I tend to listen to all sides of the story, if both are present, then make my own decision based on the facts I find.
PS..that would be INITION MODULE, sorry for the old school terms.
